This video shows you some techniques to start to connect with your scar and gentle scar massage work. Scar massage can help your scar heal by freeing up the layers of scar tissue. Manipulation helps tissue glide and move more independently, and improves the function of the abdominal muscles. Massage also increases blood flow, which in turn can help reduce numbness around the scar area. It may help to reduce pain through desensitising the nervous system, as well as prevent abnormal stiffness down the track by maintaining flexibility and preventing adhesions of the skin layers.
